The object of the checkers game is to capture all your opponent's pieces or prevent your opponent from being able to move when it is his or her turn to do so. Your opponent for now is the Artificial Intelligence of the computer. If you can't capture all your opponent's pieces or block your opponent from moving, you can't win. Same is true for your opponent.

The Playing Pieces (Men)
The playing pieces, also known as Men, can move forward only, one square at a time in a diagonal direction, to an unoccupied square. A playing piece (Man) captures by jumping over an opposing man on a diagonally adjacent square to the square immediately beyond, but may do so only if this square is unoccupied. Men may capture (jump) forward or backward, and may continue capturing as long as they encounter opposing checkers with unoccupied squares immediately beyond them. A player may never jump over his or her playing pieces.

The Kings
When a playing piece (Man) reaches the last rank of the board by reason of a move, or as the completion of a capture, it becomes a King. A King can move in any direction and capture in any direction one or more opposing checkers or opponent's Kings, as the limits of the board permit. The King can only capture diagonally over one adjacent piece at a time, in any of the four diagonal directions. Multiple captures are possible. If the Man reaches the far side by means of a capture, it continues capturing as a King on the same move, if possible, and remains a King at the end of the capturing sequence.
