Play Online Checkers

Currently we have built the artificial intelligence (AI) version and are in the process of building a two-player platform. You will play using the orange pieces and the computer (your opponent) will play the green playing pieces. Each player has 12 checkers to start the game with. You will be playing Russian Checkers. This is the most popular checkers game in the world, and in our opinion, the one that makes most sense. In particular, if you are offered to capture a piece, you must capture it (you can't ignore it and move another piece instead). You can capture your opponents pieces by jumping backward or forward. You can also capture a series of your opponent's pieces in any direction or sequence. The game will not let you make a move which breaks the Russian Checkers rules, and it does not cheat. If you're interested in learning about other checkers standards or variations, please click on this: Types of Checkers.

There are many different variations on the rules of checkers that people play. Many play the rule that you do not have to take a piece. We think that ignoring an opponents offer to capture makes the game less interesting. For more information on the Russian Checkers rules, click on this link: Russian Checkers Question and Answers (Q&A). You will be playing Russian Checkers on a standard sixty four square board with alternating blue and white colors. There are eight horizontal rows and eight verticle columns with the players moving on the blues squares only and using only diagnol movements. At this point you can play against the computer only, but we plan to introduce a two player game soon.
